Teen Drivers Ed

In Texas, teens must complete a few key steps before earning their driver’s license. First, students begin with a state-approved driver education course, which includes classroom instruction and a written permit test. Once they pass, they receive a learner’s permit and can start driving with a licensed adult (21+) in the passenger seat.

Teens are required to hold their permit for at least 6 months and complete behind-the-wheel practice hours, including both daytime and nighttime driving. After meeting these requirements and turning at least 16 years old, they are eligible to take the road test. If a student waits until 18, the process is slightly different, but driver education and testing are still required.

At On Top Driving School, we guide students through each step so nothing gets missed and everything feels manageable.
